We’re changing the way that Axiom refers to controls to better fit with what we’re learning from our users and industry partners. This comes with a new, control-based report view which will make it easier for you to oversee what controls are in place, and how they’re performing.
We’ll also be adding a tagging feature, letting you assign labels to your processes, risks and controls so that you can organise them in any way that you like. Using this feature, you’ll be able to do things like identify certain controls as ‘key’ for more straightforward audit preparation, label processes belonging to a particular owner, or group risks into operational areas for better visibility.
Finally, we’ll be simplifying the way that you add responses to Axiom using the button on the bottom of the rules screens.
Control terminology – say goodbye to ‘compliance processes’
Right now, Axiom has the concept of a ‘compliance process’ as the name for something that you do to detect or prevent problems. In everyday terms, we’d refer to this as a ‘control’, but we took the decision to name these in a way that would keep a sense of consistency with other processes; after all, these are all activities carried out by the business.
However, we’re learning from all of you that it would be clearer to adopt the more familiar term for these activities, and as a result, ‘compliance processes’ will soon be called ‘controls’ on Axiom.
Correspondingly, the things Axiom does by way of sending out emails and asking for attestations will be called ‘reminders’.
Nothing else will change about how controls and reminders work, and you’ll still be able to create as many reminders as you like to keep things up to date. But hopefully, the way that Axiom refers to these things will be a little easier to understand.
Item tagging – a powerful new way to organise your information
Tags work to help you organise your information in several different ways. We’ll provide some for you, such as a ‘key control’ tag which you can use to identify the controls which are most important to your business. You can also create as many tags as you like of your own, with any short names that you choose. If you want to identify processes that are in need of review, show risks that fall under a certain business area, or label controls that are in place but haven’t been tested for effectiveness – you can do it with tags.
The best part of the tag feature, however, is that you can create tags from any address book item. This means that you could create tags based on people, and then tag your controls to show which people are involved. Or you could create tags based on distinct legal entities, and then tag processes operated by each entity separately.
Finally, you’ll be able to specify which tags you want to include when you generate compliance documents – meaning you’ll be able to create separate CASS 10 Resolution Packs for each legal entity, or generate a report for your auditor showing only the key controls that you operate.
Menu simplification – add records from within each process
Last but not least, we’re reducing the right-hand menu on rules screens to make it a little easier to use. You won’t see ‘record’ type items here any more – that means adding attachments, text, links and so on should be done directly within the process item in the main area of the page.
